350 Metro Denver Petition to Close Dirty Refinery Is Underway

Written by: Kim Osborn Mullen A petition drive to shut down Suncor Energy Refinery kicked off last month with 350 Metro Denver volunteers and allies providing outreach to communities near the refinery in Commerce City, just North of Denver.  350 Metro Denver activist Sunni Benoit, noted the Suncor location near Sand Creek and South Platte River, is very close to primarily working-class communities who are 80% Latinx.

The Next Generation Taking the Reins – Recap of Pride Climate Strike

Written by: Riley Ruff On June 14th, I joined a group of students and adults in front of the Denver Capitol Building to celebrate the intersection of indigenous rights, environmental activism, and LGBTQ+ advocacy. Groups included Colorado Young Leaders, The International Indigenous Youth Council, 350 Colorado and Earth Guardians. Participants gathered to represent the Colorado branch of the climate strikes occurring all over the world, as inspired by Greta Thunberg.

Climate Hero of the Month – Amy Allen

Amy Allen is a member of the 350 Boulder County team. Amy moved to Colorado in 2017 to pursue a Ph.D. in architectural engineering at CU Boulder.  Amy is inspired by all of 350 Colorado’s work, and particularly engaged in the campaign to fight fracking.  Amy has been an environmental activist since college, and was eager to get involved with 350 Colorado after moving to Boulder.
