350 Colorado Issues Statement on the Decision by SCOTUS in West Virginia v EPA
Today the United States Supreme Court issued a decision in West Virginia v EPA that will prevent the EPA from taking bold action to reduce the massive greenhouse gas emissions created by coal-fired power plants. SCOTUS decided that the power of the EPA to regulate greenhouse gasses in this way needs to be explicitly given by Congress or it is not valid.
350CO + 30 Other Organizations Demand Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) Act on Cumulative Impacts
DENVER – Today 33 environmental groups representing tens of thousands of Coloradans impacted by climate change and air pollution joined together in demanding that the COGCC take immediate action to address the harmful cumulative impacts of the oil and gas industry: a mandate enacted in 2019 by SB 19-181. In the two years since SB19-181 passed into law, the Commission has adopted only a handful of rules which address a small subset of these impacts.
Coloradans Rally for a Coal-Free Colorado at Xcel Headquarters
Denver, CO (April 8, 2022) – In response to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission’s (PUC) forthcoming decision to approve or reject Xcel Energy’s latest proposal to burn coal at Colorado’s biggest coal plant for 12 more years, a coalition of environmental and community groups rallied outside of Xcel Energy’s Colorado Headquarters calling for a coal-free Colorado on Friday, April 8th.
