Moving Planet,

which took place on Sept. 24th, 2011, was a worldwide rally to demand solutions to the climate crisis – a single day to move away from fossil fuels. For too long, our leaders have denied and delayed, compromised and caved. That era must come to an end.  It’s time to get moving on the climate crisis.

This fun “Power Past Fossil Fuels” bike ride began at the Municipal Building in Boulder at 8am and finished with a Moving Planet Party and Green Fair – at the State Capitol in Denver from 5-7pm, with sponsor and partner booths, live music, inspirational speakers and fun!

The bike ride stopped at various “action stations” along the way – places we would like to see move beyond fossil fuels – which were hosted by partner organizations. Action stations included coal plants, a tar sands oil refinery, and other dirty energy spots along the way. We called for these dirty old coal plants to be retired now, for transition to a clean energy future, and showed our support for building a safe direct bikeway ASAP along US36 between Boulder and Denver so the many cyclists in our region can commute fossil-free.

Thanks to everyone who attended!  It was an awesome event and a wonderful day!
