Welcome to our March 2023 Newsletter! On behalf of all of us at 350CO – Happy March!

In this issue, hear from a Colorado youth climate leader on why we need stronger action from our leaders, and read about the history of the oil and gas wars in Colorado – and why they are still not over. You’ll also learn about disruptive technologies as well as upcoming legislation that will further enable the use of biochar to plug oil and gas wells and how biochar can be a form of ‘unfracking.’ (Biochar is charcoal produced from plant matter and stored in the soil as a means of removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere). Finally, read all about our annual Climate Lobby Day and ways to take action.

From all of us on the 350CO Team, we wish you a wonderful month!

Unfracking’: Plugging Orphaned Wells Using Biochar

Unfracking is a safe solution for the world’s need to remove and sequester carbon. It will also get 3.2 million leaking oil and gas wells across the US plugged and plugged better. But that’s not all. The biochar will mitigate the carbon footprint of cement, prevent cracks, and will bind fugitive emissions of CO2, methane, benzene, VOCs and heavy metals.
