During this year’s climate lobby week, we and allies like Physicians for Social Responsibility will urge state legislators to support priority bills and take action to help solve the climate crisis. There are several important bills in the works already and we hope you’ll join us in advocating for strong climate action.

Colorado is one of the fastest-warming states in the country and is already experiencing climate impacts that harm public health and environmental wellbeing. Colorado is experiencing shorter and warmer winters, declining snowpack, prolonged drought, extreme heat, unprecedented and destructive wildfires, widespread beetle infestation decimating alpine forests, more frequent and severe flooding, and more severe, and life-threatening ground-level ozone pollution. These impacts hurt us all, and they disproportionately impact communities of color, poor communities, global south communities, children, elders, chronically ill and differently abled people, and threatened and endangered non-human species. Join us to encourage our legislators to fight for legislation that will address these issues.

Here’s how you can get involved as we kick off the 2023 Legislative Session: 

*Sunday February 5th at 5pm: Climate Lobby week and planning session on zoom and chat with Representative Sonya Jaquez Lewis. Register here to get the zoom link. Join and share the Facebook event here.

*Throughout the week people who live too far to come to Climate Lobby Day can schedule zoom meetings with their legislators.

*Friday February 10th 8am-12pm: Join us across the street from the Colorado Capitol at 8 am to for a presentation on how to effectively lobby your legislators, priority bill info, and presentations on why citizen climate lobbying is important from Senator Hansen and Former Senator Mike Foote. We will then practice with our constituent groups and walk over to the capitol together to meet with our legislators!
