Like most Coloradans, I wasn’t too familiar with fracking until it found its way into my backyard. My son Diego is a student of Bella Romero Academy in Greeley, where Extraction Oil and Gas is drilling 24 wells just a few hundred feet from the playground.

As I began to research the industry, I learned about the detrimental health effects, especially to children. I decided I had to stand up for my son, his classmates and his teachers. That is where my journey with 350 Colorado began.

350 Colorado was me every step along the way as I advocated for the health and safety of my family. As someone who is new to being an activist, the support that 350CO provided has been a lifeline for me. It is not easy to put yourself out there testify at the capitol, give comments at public hearings or speak on a fracking tour. But I always know that 350CO will prepare me with the information I need and reassure me through their presence.

I am writing to ask you to support 350 Colorado with a donation today, because we need to support organizations that are supporting the people of Colorado.

I have been through the trenches with 350 over the last year. The evening before Colorado Rising turned in their signatures, 350 Colorado staff were up for over 40 hours volunteering their time to make that happen. 350 Colorado shows up.

Even though Prop 112 failed, we got over 1 million votes and now is not the time to give up! It is up to us to keep that momentum going and make the changes that we have been fighting for. Today, it is up to you to make sure we succeed by making a donation to 350 Colorado.

Sincerely,

Patricia Nelson – 350 Colorado Volunteer
