Thanks to all 350 Colorado supporters and allies who joined us for our “DRAW THE LINE “ Action Day, on Saturday, September 21, 2013.

Putting people power to work again at the event here in Denver and around the Nation, we showed President Obama and other leaders that our commitment to defending our communities and stopping the tar sands is non-negotiable.

President Obama has said that he’s willing to stop the pipeline if he thinks it ‘significantly contribute[s]’ to climate change — so we’ll keep rising up to keep the tar sands oil in the ground, prevent atmospheric CO2 from rising to 600ppm, and not allow “game over” for the climate (- quote from NASA scientist James Hansen).

Through art and movement, over 200 people joined together at our State Capitol and marched by the Suncor (a Canadian company) tar sands local corporate office to the Canadian Consul Office, drawing lines to send an unmistakable message that the tar sands are a climate disaster and President Obama must stop the pipeline.  We drew lines to protect our children’s futures, to protect our forests, farms, homes, and mountain landscapes from record wildfires, droughts, devastating floods, pine beetle devastation, decreased snowpack and other impacts wrought by climate change on our region.

Thanks for taking a stand against the Keystone XL pipeline and for a sustainable future!
