It’s time to Do The Math!

In November of 2012, Bill McKibben and 350.org hit the road to jumpstart the next phase of the climate movement with the “Do the Math” Tour , going to 21 cities around the US.

The tour came to Colorado on Dec. 2nd at CU Boulder, UMC, Glen Miller Ballroom.  The 1,200 person-capacity event was sold out three weeks ahead of time and there were 2 overflow live streaming locations.  Other speakers and performers included Wynona Laduke, Josh Fox, Van Jones (via Skype), Johnny 5 of the Flobots, and welcomes from Boulder City Council member Zan Jones and 350 Colorado Organizer Micah Parkin.  Thanks to all of you who volunteered to make the event a huge success!

What’s the math?  It’s simple: we can burn 565 more gigatons of carbon dioxide and stay below 2°C of warming — anything more than that risks catastrophe for life on earth. The only problem? Fossil fuel corporations now have 2,795 gigatons in their reserves, five times the safe amount. And they’re planning to burn it all — unless we rise up to stop them.

Let’s build the movement that will change the terrifying math of the climate crisis!  Get involved with a local 350 team!
