This past year our 350CO community worked together to build the climate movement, secure stronger protections for Coloradans, and continued calls for bold climate action to protect our climate. Join us in celebrating the year’s highlights and key wins!

We're All In! 350CO 2022 Year In Review & Action Highlights

This past year, we hosted or co-hosted over 100 events, averaging 2-3 action and learning opportunities *every week!* We took over 3,300 actions online, including submitting petitions, sign-on letters and advocacy letters to decision makers and we published over 50 letters to the editor and opinion pieces on key climate issues. We got our message into the media over 600 times!

We engaged 125+ Coloradans in Climate Lobby Week and advocacy training, where participants advocated for climate justice, strong climate leadership and supported key climate bills through meetings with legislators, district by district. We also pressured the Polis Administration, calling for the strongest climate leadership possible, launching an open letter to Phase out New Oil and Gas Permits by 2030. Over 1200 of us called for stronger action on ozone pollution.

Key outcomes this past year include:

  • We hosted our 1st ever youth climate conference in Oct. 2022

Securing the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation commission’s decision to uphold the 2000 foot health and safety setback, with the COGCC formally denying the Kerr McGee oil and gas well plan proposed near homes in Firestone, Colorado, with the COGCC denying their first oil and gas permit ever.

  • Securing  the EPA’s decision to deny Suncor Oil Refinery’s Title V air quality permit renewal spotlighting environmental justice concerns.

  • Securing a Pitkin County fossil fuel divestment win, compelling Pitkin County’s Board of Commissioners to pass a formal prohibition against investing in fossil fuels, tobacco, and firearm companies, and to pursue responsible Environmental, Social and Governance investing.

  • Securing updated Xcel Energy ERP proposal entailing closing Pueblo 3 coal plant no later than 2031. (The previous closure date was 2070!)

A summer 350CO Action Calling on Pres. Biden & Gov. Polis to Declare a Climate Emergency

Together, we have expanded our staff support and resources for volunteers, and launched a new Spanish micro-website with information on Suncor Oil Refinery, the impacts of climate change and poor air quality, and  the impacts of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) on local communities, as well as ways to take action.

Throughout the year, our local teams continued to be a catalyst for positive change and community engagement and action. You can learn more about our local team efforts and successes here: Spotlight on 350CO Local Teams – Climate Action Highlights from Across the State.

Thanks to our 350CO Community for all the work together this past year! We are truly all in for climate action!

We built our movement of grassroots changemakers…kicking off a new online Volunteer Orientation, where participants learned how to get involved in taking action to address the climate crisis, including the intersectional climate and environmental issues we are facing in the state. We hosted over 100 one on ones with new volunteers!

We hosted Climate Leadership Workshops where participants skilled up in climate leadership and grassroots community organizing skills, including outreach and advocacy skill building, power mapping, campaign planning and implementation skills. We are looking forward to our work together in 2023 – and to celebrating our 10 year anniversary this year!

Thank you to all who joined in taking action on behalf of a more sustainable future!
