350 Colorado Offers Expert Testimony at COGCC Mission Change Rulemaking, Builds Case for Greater Protections
In 2020, the Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission has been undergoing rulemaking processes related to SB-181, which is meant to ensure oil and gas development is regulated in a manner that protects public health, safety, welfare, the environment and wildlife resources, with a recent rulemaking process focused on “Mission Change.”
350 Colorado’s Take on the Governor’s Roadmap
Last year, legislation was passed in Colorado to begin addressing Colorado’s contribution to the climate crisis and curbing emissions that not only contribute to climate change, but also adversely impact air quality and contribute pollution harmful to respiratory health. The proposed Colorado GHG Reduction Roadmap released on Sept. 30th is a start, but to achieve the goals of HB 19-1261 and eventually more aggressive goals that climate science and justice demand, more specific policies and enforcement will be needed.

This past week 350 Colorado and the Fossil Free PERA campaign teamed up with allies in Canada to call out harmful fossil fuel investments made by both Colorado and Canadian pension funds that are directly and adversely impacting Colorado communities.
