Julia Moravcsik, 350 CO May Climate Hero of the Month

May we introduce you to our Climate Hero of the Month for May – Julia Moravcsik!

Julia, who joined 350CO in July 2019, sees climate change as one of the biggest threats humanity has ever faced. As someone with a special interest in electric vehicles, she specializes in EVs (electric vehicles) as a climate solution, but also works on other solutions. Julia is the events coordinator for the Denver Electric Vehicle Council, the head of the Automotive Business Team for Citizens Climate Lobby, and is working for Coltura to spearhead legislation to phase out gas cars in Colorado and other states. She participates in many EV shows, often with Drive Clean Colorado. She has given talks on electric vehicles to social groups, nonprofits, and corporations. She also works on green home issues and actively supports climate-related legislation, including through 350 Colorado’s Climate Legislation and Action Committee.

Julia also stays active by calling for stronger climate leadership through petitions, sending advocacy letters to legislators, and being a tireless advocate for electric vehicles. In 2021 she presented a webinar hosted by 350 CO’s Renewable Energy Committee: Electric Vehicles – Pros & Cons, which spotlighted the transition to EVs and how EVs will affect the future of transportation.

“We can always count on Julia to be a strong advocate for the needed transition away from fossil fuels,” shared Deb McNamara, 350 CO’s Development & Communications Director. “Julia has always made herself available as a resource to others wanting to know more about transportation policy and issues. She is a natural leader and we can always count on her to show up and offer her energy and passion to the climate movement. 350 CO is so grateful for all the contributions she makes to creating a more sustainable future.”

Julia also contributes her time and energy promoting bolder climate legislation at the Colorado General Assembly. During the legislative cycle this year Julia was a bill captain for 350 CO’s Climate Legislation and Action Committee for HB22-1249, which championed Grid Resilience And Reliability. Even in the midst of competing priorities and the complications of the legislative session, Julia led her bill team seamlessly, ensuring everyone was equipped to support climate legislation. She also participated in 350 CO’s Climate Lobby Training and Climate Lobby week, and led meetings with legislators in her district while engaging and supporting other volunteers.

Thanks to Julia for all she does to make this world a better place, and for being our May Climate Hero of the Month!
