December is here and we are honoring Ethan Shapiro as our Climate Hero of the Month! Ethan became involved with 350 Colorado in July 2020 and has been making quite the impact since then! Between signing petitions, broadcasting voices and climate issues to wider audiences, and making regular donations, Ethan looks for different ways to stay active and support the climate movement. After completing his degree in business management and entrepreneurship from CU Boulder in 2018, Ethan decided to combine his love of people and markets to create a company with a mission to support a business-oriented solution to the most pressing challenges of our time so that future generations can focus on the distinct challenges of their time. Climate Change Realty was born, becoming the only real estate brokerage that donates 50% of its net commissions to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations that are dedicated to fighting climate change. This is the kind of bold climate action our world needs to set the bar high for other private sector companies that want to address the climate crisis!

Ethan is also a strong believer in the theory of ‘Enlightened Self Interest’ which claims that by always considering others before yourself you ultimately serve yourself at the deepest and most fulfilling level. Fighting the climate crisis requires a consideration outside of oneself and one for your community, for future generations, for the world at large. With this approach and his inquisitive and personable nature Ethan is an inspiring example of the generosity that humans are capable of.

If you know anyone looking to buy or sell a home anywhere in the USA and would like to create thousands of dollars in donations without any cost, please visit www.ccrboulder.com. You can also find his podcast Changing The Climate there, which to date has more than 75 episodes shining the spotlight on community leaders, compassionate business people, and organization founders like 350 Colorado’s Executive Director Micah Parkin (who was actually his first real guest on the show and who believed in him before he even got started, which he’s never forgotten!)

We are humbled and completely grateful to have Ethan’s support as he works to create a more sustainable world that is built on true philanthropy!
